Grandma's selling vintage, discontinued, uncut, new, and used sewing patterns, hot iron transfers, sewing & needlecraft books, needlework supplies, tole and decorative painting books, vintage aprons, handkerchiefs, linens, and other treasures. Our patterns and other printed items are originals (not copies) unless specifically stated. Our merchandise is previously owned and sold as-is. We try to accurately describe significant damage and defects. As with most previously owned goods, you can expect them to show signs of normal wear and handling. Pattern envelopes, book pages, and covers may have tears, writing, wrinkles, folds, stains, discoloration, old price tags and markings, odors, or other flaws due to previous ownership. Patterns that have been cut may need to be pressed with a dry iron.

Patterns are usually sent to U.S. addresses by USPS First Class, and books by USPS Media Rate. We reserve the right to determine the shipping method unless specific arrangements are made by the purchaser prior to sale. The purchaser must pay for trackable delivery services, international shipping, expedited services, and other customer-requested shipping methods. We can't guarantee we can always accommodate an expedited shipment. E-mail us for costs and availability for special services.

If you do not receive your package, we will provide proof of postage. Grandma's House! is not responsible for lost packages if you do not purchase insurance or Priority Mail service, which are both trackable through the Post Office and on the Internet. The buyer is liable for non-receipt of non-trackable packages, and the purchase price and/or shipping charge will not be refunded.

Orders paid by PayPal, credit card, money order, cashier's check, or wire transfer are usually mailed within 3 weekdays after payment is received (most are mailed the next day the Post Office is open). Personal checks will be held 10 weekdays before the order will be mailed.

There could be times when packages won't be mailed for a week or so if we're out of town or having bad weather. If we're going to be closed, gone, or otherwise unable to answer e-mail or send packages for more than a week, we'll put a notice on the Home Page and let you know how long we'll be unavailable. Notice on the home page is the only notice that will be given on the website.

If two orders are placed for the same item, we'll honor the order that was RESERVED (within one week of the reserve period). If there was no reserve, we'll honor the first paid order received.

If you place an order and promise to pay by check, money order, or by any other future method, we will regard the item as being RESERVED, and we'll hold the item for you for one week. If we haven't received payment or heard from you within a week we'll consider you are no longer interested and return your items to stock, and it may be sold without contacting you further. If you need us to hold something a little longer, you must send us an e-mail.

We've added a shopping cart for your convenience. Using the shopping cart you can pay by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, PayPal, money order, and check. Read order and payment information. We charge a $35 wire transfer fee and $35 fee for returned checks. While we normally pay the PayPal fees, we reserve the right to assign payment of fees to the buyer on International orders.

We have many duplicate items, but you should assume we only have one of each item listed unless the listing on this web site states otherwise. As one-of-a-kind items are sold, we remove them from our on-line catalog and place them on the SOLD pages. We've had to remove the prices from sold items to prevent orders being placed for items we no longer have.

Photographs should be considered representative. The photo displayed may not be the item that is actually being sold, as usually only one photo of each pattern is retained as a stock photo.

We'll search through our unlisted patterns for your requests at our convenience. Be sure to tell us what the pattern makes and what size you need, not just the pattern number. The major pattern companies re-used the same numbers several times, so the pattern number alone doesn't tell us what pattern you're looking for. Sewing and needlework patterns are paper patterns and/or instructions contained in an envelope or book/booklet. The patterns are used as a guide for you to make the item(s) pictured. If you purchase a pattern, you are not purchasing the completed item(s) or supplies and materials to make the item(s) pictured. We do sell some things, like vintage aprons, handkerchiefs, and linens that are completed items. If you have questions, please ask.

If you receive your order and decide you no longer need or want the item, contact us within 14 days of the purchase date. We accept returns, with our prior approval, if they are still in our original sealed package. We do charge a *20% restocking fee and will make a refund after we receive the returned package. Shipping fees are not refundable.
     *20% restocking fee or $5.00, whichever is greater.

Undeliverable orders that are returned and re-shipped because of an incorrect address provided by the customer will be subject to additional shipping charges paid by the customer. Undeliverable orders canceled by a customer who has provided an incorrect address will be subject to shipping charges (both ways) paid by the customer plus a *20% restocking fee. (Don't laugh--this really happens!)

Within 14 days of the purchase date, we will refund the full purchase price of any item that we have incorrectly described. We buy large lots of previously-owned, uncut patterns. Sometimes a pattern slips through with portions removed or used, but it still looks unused. Just let us know. We're not trying to rip you off - we're just not perfect.

NOTICE TO NON-U.S. BUYERS: We know you already know this stuff, but we've been asked to tell people, so here you are. Grandma's House! is not responsible for any duty or import/export tax that might be charged, and it isn't up to us whether duty is assessed. Please don't ask us to send your package marked as a gift to avoid paying duty. American Customs, foreign governments, or postal services sometimes open, inspect, damage, or delay packages, which is beyond our control. Trackable delivery services are not usually offered for foreign parcels. If you do not receive your package, we will provide proof of postage, but Grandma's House! is not responsible if you do not receive your package. The buyer is liable for non-receipt of packages sent to non-U.S. addresses, and the purchase and postage price will not be refunded. In short, we cannot control local or foreign governments or postal services.

If you have sewing or needlework patterns, guides, pamphlets, or books to sell, send us an e-mail -- we're always looking for more. Be sure to tell us what you have and how much you're asking us to pay, POSTAGE PAID to Zip 74075. We have thousands of patterns and other items we haven't had time to list yet. We usually pay 10¢ to 50¢ per pattern except for very rare ones. We don't mean to offend anyone by not offering more, but our inventory costs are rising, storage space is shrinking, and the cost of postage just to get them here is nearly prohibitive. Right now we're mostly interested in buying UNCUT patterns, especially apron, wedding, doll, costume, and craft patterns and old embroidery transfers. We're also interested in uncut and cut pre-1970 patterns. If you drop patterns off at our house without a note, you can consider this our "thank you" for your donation - we've given up trying to figure out who leaves patterns on the porch! We are under no obligation to pay for or return packages sent without prior approval of Grandma's House!.

The items we sell are generally out of print or one-of-a kind items that we purchase from thrift stores and personal sales like tag sales, garage sales, estate sales, auctions, etc. Vintage and out-of-print items are much more difficult to find and market than new stuff you can buy at your local variety store. We pay very little for the items we purchase, spend a ton of time and effort listing them in the web store, and keeping them available for you. If it offends you that we charge current market price for an item we paid a dime for, this is not the web store for you.

Grandma's House! will not sell, share, or otherwise disclose or distribute your personal information in any form to anyone for any reason.

PERSONAL: I'm a real grandma and operate Grandma's House! from my non-smoking home in north central Oklahoma. I frequently employ friends, relatives, and others to help with the store. Grandma's House! claims no affiliation or relationship with any pattern designer, maker, manufacturer, or distributor. Grandma's House! is not responsible for design flaws by the maker or pattern designer. Patterns sold at Grandma's House! are previously owned, having been originally purchased from a retail store or from the manufacturer, and re-purchased for resale by us from individuals, yard sales, thrift stores, or other second-hand sources. We do not knowlingly sell patterns that have been disposed of by a retail store after being reported as unsold to the manufacturer.
